Odell and Booth Brothers pottery, earthenware, c. 1883.

The popularity of Sunnyside, both during and after Irving's lifetime, is exemplified by this piece of art pottery by the short-lived firm of Odell and Booth Brothers.  The house, as illustrated through numerous prints and photographs and as described in magazine articles and books, came to symbolize and define the ideal of "home" for many Americans.
